The reason i gave the book 2 stars is how the next scenario played out. I can't get enough of this series! I have to say this book started out well, lily escapes the ship and is now stuck with her kidnapper. It's time to take her destiny into her own hands. It's not like she would want his or anyone's rescue, anyway. Lofrayne is a far cry from a Prince Charming as which he seems to fancy himself-but then, Lily's no a damsel in distress, either. Alas, she is accompanied by the accursed Baron. When the ship is attacked by pirates, Lilian, helped by a chance acquaintance hoping to get his own revenge on her, manages to escape in a rowboat and reach the shore. You have to move, crawl on all fours, sail with every wind, use any chance you might get.and then, sooner or later, life will offer you its hand. How does one escape a vessel on the high seas, really? She is a healer and breaks all the molds of females of that era. She eventually gains admiration, love and respect not only of her husband but many nobleman and women of several countries. She becomes wealthy making numerous friends and allies along the way. She becomes an oddity for a woman of that time and extraordinary entrepreneur and manager of their estate. How does she ever change - to a loving stepmother to a sweet daughter, a vivacious and disciplined beauty, and exceptionally bright inventer (of course with ideas hundreds of years ahead of that time).

From a frumpy cow forsaken by a husband who stays away and only visits for a brief conjugal visit she is then left to for in a remote estate in the care of inept and thieving scoundrels at the mercy of would be assassins.

As a near death experience of the host she has reason to be different and how different can she be. She awakens in another body hundreds of years earlier in a world drastically different from our modern era and in a body sick and so different from her previous one. But that's just the beginning of her story. Lillian Earton, who started out as a modern young graduate and ends her life along with her parents in a tragic auto accident.
